Diocese of Osimo

The Diocese of Osimo ( Latin Dioecesis Auximanus ) is a former Roman Catholic diocese in Italy with the bishopric in Osimo , which was founded in the 7th century. On August 19, 1725, united with the diocese of Cingoli under the name Osimo and Cingoli and now directly subordinate to the Holy See, in 1949 there were 37,445 Catholics (over 99%) in 39 parishes with 86 diocesan priests , 38 religious priests and 165 religious sisters . In 1980 there were 55,413 Catholics living in the diocese with only 61 diocesan, 35 religious and 119 nuns in 39 parishes. On January 25, 1985, the former diocese of Cingoli was added to the diocese of Macerata-Tolentino and the diocese of Osimo itself was united with the archdiocese of Ancona to form the archdiocese of Ancona-Osimo on September 30, 1986 .
