Wuzhou diocese

The Diocese of Wuchow (Latin: Dioecesis Uceuvensis ), located in the People's Republic of China , was a Marist mission and became independent on June 30, 1930 as a mission sui juris . Already on December 10, 1934 raised to the Apostolic Prefecture , it could be raised to the Apostolic Vicariate on July 20, 1939 and to the diocese on April 11, 1946 .

Subordinate to the Archdiocese of Nanning as the only suffragan diocese, it counted 19,871 Catholics (0.6%) in 1950 in 17 parishes with 2 diocesan priests and 17 religious sisters .

The sole bishop was Frederic Anthony Donaghy, MM (Vicar Apostolic since July 20, 1939; Bishop from April 11, 1946 to February 5, 1988)
