The Bizepssehnenluxation is a rare orthopedic disease in dogs that long in which tendon of origin of the biceps brachii of the groove between the two humps of the humerus ( biceps groove displaced) inside. The cause is not clear, mostly a rupture of the transverse tether ( ligamentum transversum humeri ) can be observed.

The biceps tendon dislocation occurs mainly in larger breed dogs that are used for sport - especially German Shepherds and Greyhounds - and manifests itself in a slight lameness on the legs . In the lameness examination, when the shoulder joint is flexed and the elbow joint is stretched at the same time, there is usually a click and crepitation on the anterior inside of the shoulder joint. Radiologically no changes can be detected, so that the diagnosis must be made clinically.

Therapeutically, a suture or a replacement of the transverse tether with suture material is performed. The prognosis is good.
