The former junior national player Marquardt was the smallest Bundesliga player in Germany's top division at 1.82 meters in the early 1990s. In 1993 he played as a development player at TuS Bramsche , to which he had previously switched from Osnabrück. Here he was teammates of the Centers Gunther Behnke , at that time the physically largest player in the league. Later Marquardt was also active for Artland Dragons , with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 1996. In 2010, Marquardt, who now has a doctorate as an orthopedist and who had previously been active in the two top German basketball leagues for eleven years, joined the UBC in Münster, which plays in the major league and into which SW Havixbeck was previously integrated.
