Bjorn Simon

Björn Manuel Simon (born May 18, 1981 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German political scientist and politician of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). In the 2017 federal election he was elected to the  German Bundestag as a  direct candidate  in constituency 185, Offenbach .

Life and work

Simon grew up in Obertshausen, Hesse . After high school and military service, he successfully completed his master’s degree in political science, sociology and economics in 2012. Before he became a research assistant in the Bundestag office of Peter Wichtel (CDU), he had gained professional experience in the operational area of Fraport AG and the district office of the CDU Main-Taunus.

Simon is married and lives in Obertshausen.

Party and offices

Simon joined the CDU in 2004. Before that he had been a member of the Junge Union for five years . He has been an honorary city ​​councilor in Obertshausen since 2006 and became deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there in 2016 . In 2015 he was elected chairman by the members of the CDU Obertshausen and is a member of the executive board of the CDU district Offenbach.

In the 2017 federal election , Simon won the direct mandate in constituency 185, Offenbach, with 36.4% of the vote. He took over the constituency from Peter Wichtel, who had not run again for a mandate .
