Black Dub is a Canadian-American alternative rock band that was formed in New York in 2009 .
Band history
The head of the band is the Canadian Daniel Lanois , who was previously successful as a solo musician and producer of many well-known artists. In October 2009 he teamed up with drummer Brian Blade , bassist Daryl Johnson and Trixie Whitley , daughter of Chris Whitley , to form Black Dub . They published their first self-made recordings on YouTube and their own website before signing with the Red Ink / Jive label to produce their first album.
The release was delayed when Lanois had a serious motorcycle accident in July 2010, from which he quickly recovered. At the end of the year their debut album named after the band hit the charts in North America and several European countries.
In July 2011, Black Dub toured Europe.
