Black Friday '29 was a hardcore band from the Ruhr area in Germany .

Band history

The band played hard, melodic old-school hardcore and counts bands like Cro-Mags , Youth of Today , DYS , Outburst among their influences. The very personal texts deal with friendship, love, pain and political issues. The band was originally assigned to the straight edge scene. Front singer Björn Esser founded the Straight Edge Hardcore punk band Get it Done together with Michael Schraven (Static Void), Devo (Ex-Settle to Score), Felix (Ex-AYS) and Firat Yildirim in 2010 .

After the release of a first demo recording on BloodyXSunday Records and a 7 ″ single called Blackout in 2002, the single and the demo were released on a CD, also under the name Blackout, on Crucial Response Records in the same year . After concerts and tours through Europe, the acclaimed debut album was released on CD under the title The Escape on the Dutch label GSR in 2004 . The vinyl version was released by Dead and Gone Records from England. At the end of 2007 the second album The Pursuit of Happiness was released on Blacktop Records, which was also received positively by critics and was placed in the sales charts of both the Mailorder Coretex Records and Green Hell Records. The vinyl version of this album was re-released by Dead and Gone Records. In 2009, Black Friday was created in collaboration with producers Simon Werner and Jacob Bredahl and was released on Let It Burn Records ( Soulfood ) in the same year.

In August 2010 it was announced: “What is certain is that Black Friday '29 will not be on stage again for the time being. Maybe never again. ”( Black Friday '29 : Facebook page, August 12, 2010)
