The Black Horse Inn , also known as Sampson & The Lion , is under monument protection standing restaurant in Springfield Township , Montgomery County , Pennsylvania , United States .
history
The original section of the federal-style , two-and-a-half-story building was erected in 1744 by Abraham Wakerly. In 1833 Jacob Meninger extended the house to the north with a height of three stories. Between 1880 and 1913, additional additions to the rear of the Black Horse Inn were made by the McCloskey family, who have been running the restaurant since 1880.
The house was listed as a Historic Monument on the National Register of Historic Places on July 5, 2005 .
