The Black Kids are an American pop band from Jacksonville , Florida .
history
The five band members met at Sunday school and decided in 2006 to start a band. They first attracted attention at the Popfest in Athens and their name made the rounds on the Internet blogs . The four songs that they posted on their MySpace page enjoyed great popularity and were also the basis of their performances. In particular, at the New York CMJ Music Marathon Festival in October 2007, they also drew the attention of the music press. This was followed by a small tour of England.
Although they hadn't found a label by then, they were voted one of the potential newcomers of 2008 ( Sound of 2008 ) by both Rolling Stone magazine and the BBC . Shortly afterwards, the Black Kids also received record deals and in April their debut single I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You , which could already be found on their MySpace page, was released in Great Britain. They immediately reached number 11 on the charts. They continued to focus their career start mainly on Great Britain and in addition to numerous appearances there they also recorded their debut album Partie Traumatic . It was released in July 2008 and entered the UK charts at number 5.
After almost nine years of silence, Black Kids released a follow-up album on February 18, 2017 with "ROOKIE" on Bandcamp .
