The Black Knob (English for black knob ) is a rocky outcrop on the Hut Point Peninsula in the southwest of the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 300 m west of the Twin Crater .
The descriptive term for the formation has been used on maps and in reports since at least 1971. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names recognized the designation on June 19, 2000, and the New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee followed on February 20, 2001.
