Blancanus is an impact crater to the south of the front of the moon , southeast of Scheiner crater and southwest of Clavius . The circular crater wall shows terracing inside , the crater floor is flat.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian Jesuit and astronomer Giuseppe Biancani .
