The Blue Lake is one of 1901 incurred by gravel mining quarry pond at the edge of Misburg-Nord in the district Misburg-Anderten in Hannover , Lower Saxony . It was not created in the course of the construction of the A 2 autobahn , because gravel was extracted much earlier at Am Blauen See in the Misburg Forest.
After 1949, the area around the lake was expanded into a recreational area. The Naturfreundehaus restaurant is located on the lake , swimming is prohibited there.
In the Hanover region there are at least two other lakes with this name, the Blue Lake (Lehrte) , a little further east and the Blue Lake (Garbsen) - further west in the north-west of Hanover. All three lakes are on the A2 motorway.
