Coordinates: 33 ° 32 ′  S , 149 ° 15 ′  E The Blayney Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 1,524.6 km² and has about 7,250 inhabitants.

Blayney is located in the Central West region about 240 km west of the metropolis of Sydney and 260 km north of the Australian capital Canberra . The area includes 40 hamlets and hamlets, including Barry, Beneree, Blayney, Browns Creek, Carcoar, Forest Reefs, Garland, Hobbys Yard, Kings Plains, Lyndhurst, Newbridge and parts of Mandurama, Millthorpe and Neville. The headquarters of the Shire Council is in the town of Blayney in the northeast of the LGA, where about 3,000 people live.

The Blayney Shire Council has nine members who are elected by LGA residents. Blayney is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
