The Bleckenburgstraße 29, Elbstraße 1 building is a listed residential and commercial building in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in a corner near the southern end of Bleckenburgstrasse, on its eastern side, at the confluence with Schönebecker Strasse. At an acute angle, Elbstrasse joins Schönebecker Strasse from the east. The building thus protrudes as a wedge into the line of Schönebecker Straße and is considered to be a defining feature of the street scene. Bleckenburgstrasse 27 , which is also a listed building, borders to the north .

Architecture and history

The five-story, representative building was built in 1891 based on a design by J. Burmeister and C. Loewe. The facades are lavishly decorated with stucco in neo-Renaissance forms . Flat risk-like building parts emerge in several places . The striking corner situation is emphasized with a round tower mark, which was originally crowned with a tail cap, which is no longer preserved today .

There is rustication on the ground floor . The top floor is particularly emphasized by means of a cornice . The roof protrudes clearly. The upper part of the building looks like an attic .

In the local register of monuments , the residential and commercial building is listed as a historical building under registration number 094 17876 .

In addition to its urban development importance, the building is also given cultural and artistic importance. It is also an important example of a representative Wilhelminian style building in the Buckau town center.
