The house Lützowplatz 1 was originally designed as a residential building on Lützowplatz in the Berlin district of Tiergarten in the Mitte district . The building was erected in the course of the International Building Exhibition in 1987 and is considered one of the main works.

Conception and creation

The building was designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta and realized as part of the 1987 International Building Exhibition. It is part of the residential park on Lützowplatz , which was built on Block 234. Block 234 is delimited by Lützowplatz, Lützowstrasse, Derfflingerstrasse, Karl-Heinrich-Ulrichs-Strasse and Kurfürstenstrasse . The building is located in close proximity to the Grand Hotel Esplanade by Jürgen Sawade . The house is the only building that Botta has completed in Berlin.
