Block course

A block course is a course that is held in concentrated form in a contiguous period (“block”) of a few days, less often a few weeks. A certain weekday or half day is often used as a block time for several months.

For example, universities or comparable institutions often offer special courses / teaching content as block events (also called block training ) that only last a few days or weeks during the summer or semester break and are equivalent to events that run over one or even several semesters .

Block courses can e.g. B. Laboratory and field exercises , subject-related excursions , post-graduate training and university courses , or block teaching in schools.

The exams are often taken immediately at the end of the time block, and for longer courses they are also divided into thematic examination blocks .
