Blond ale
Blond Ale (also Golden Ale or Blonde Ale ) is an American type of beer from the Pale Ales range . The top-fermented blond ale has a pale blonde color, is not very tasty and has an alcohol content of 4–5% by volume.
history
Blond Ale is a very modern type of beer originally produced in the USA , which was invented in the course of the so-called American "Craft Beer Revolution" in the early 1990s. The brewing method is based on the English pale ale and the German Kölsch . A direct forerunner of American blond ale is the "Summer Lightning" beer creation from the English Hop Back Brewery from 1989.
The Blond Ale soon became known outside of the English-speaking world. In Europe today it is particularly popular in Belgium , there are other manufacturers in France and Brazil .
Manufacturing
Blond Ale is brewed using the Williamette hop variety, which is widely used in the USA . Furthermore, Blond Ale contains malt (types: American Two-Row or Crystal) and water. The yeasts used are those that are commonly used in the production of lager and ale.
taste
The alcohol contained in Blond Ale has hardly any effect on the aroma of the beer. The hop aroma is noticeably present, but does not dominate the taste and does not appear bitter. The malt content ensures a slightly sweet taste. Due to the formation of esters during the fermentation process , Blond Ale can also contain a slightly fruity taste note.
Blond ale as a companion drink
In the United States, blond ale is often served with pasta , grilled meat dishes, and fish dishes (e.g. lobster). Blond Ale is also suitable as an accompaniment to certain types of cheese, such as the American types "Pepper Jack" and "Monterey Jack" or Edam . For Europeans it may seem unusual that blond ale is also served with desserts, for example the "sugar cookies".
Blond ale is usually drunk at 7–10 ° C (45–50 ° F).
