Bloody Bones

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In parts of the English-speaking world, Bloody Bones is a creature , a demon or a ghost feared by children . After Scott Andrew Hutchins, Bloody Bones comes from Ireland and is sometimes called Rawhead and Bloody Bones , Tommy Rawhead or just Rawhead . Although the stories are originally from Ireland, they are also widely spread in the UK and North America .

They say he lives near water (in older stories) and under drains (in more recent stories). Rawhead and Bloody Bones reward very good children, but punish naughty children by dragging them down the drain or into the water and drowning them. In addition to drowning naughty children, he is said to be able to turn them into things like rubbish or stains that are inadvertently cleaned up by ignorant parents.

Appearance

Hutchins quotes Georges McHargue as saying that Bloody Bones “is rumored to have a squatting shape like a stone. He is covered all over with dull hair, has pale, bland eyes and lives in dark closets ”. Its appearance varies greatly depending on the narrative. Its appearance is described as:

  • a creeping stone-like hairy creature
  • a gremlin with twisted meat
  • a dog or an old man covered with scabs
  • a burnt offering, but with sharp claws and teeth
  • a huge boar with missing meat (pieces)
  • a hairy creature with long fangs, a bushy tail and razor sharp claws
  • in some stories he can take whatever shape he chooses
