Bloody Falls
Bloody Falls (or Kogluktok ) is a rapids in Nunavut , Canada . It is 15 kilometers above the confluence of the Coppermine River in the Arctic Ocean .
The British researcher Samuel Hearne named it after the Bloody Falls Massacre , in which around 20 people were killed in 1771. Kugluktuk , the closest settlement, is nearly 10 miles away.
Bloody Falls was declared a National Historic Site in 1978 .
Inuit archeological finds were found near Bloody Falls, probably around 1300 BC. Lived. The Inuit still use the area as a fish camp today.
