Blue Boy , also called The Blue Boy , was the stage name of the Scottish DJ and producer Alexis “Lex” Blackmore (* in Brighton ). He became internationally known in 1997 by the Dance - Hit Remember Me .

biography

Blackmore worked in 1991 first as a DJ in Glasgow and London , when he and the British techno - band The Shamen toured. In addition to Julian Dembinski, he was a member of the duos Orson Card and Positive Science. After working under different stage names (The Blueboy, Blueboy, The BlueBoy), the pseudonym Blue Boy established himself in 1995 .

The single Sandman was released in 1995, but initially went unnoticed. The 1996 track It's Up to You was not a commercial success either. It wasn't until the 1997 single Remember Me , which Blackmore recorded alone in his bedroom, that brought the desired breakthrough. The song, in which vocal elements from Marlena Shaw's 1969 hit Woman of the Ghetto are processed, became a top 10 hit in the United Kingdom and Switzerland and climbed into the top 20 in Germany .

When Sandman was re-released in 1997 after the great success of Remember Me , this single also rose to the English charts and reached number 25. Blackmore later worked a. a. as a remixer for other acts .
