Blumen Risse is a German plant retail chain with headquarters in Schwerte-Westhofen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The company operates 147 sales outlets, including 113 flower shops , 11 garden centers and 23 flower markets (as of 2017). The main area of ​​distribution is North Rhine-Westphalia, but the company is also represented with branches in the federal states of Lower Saxony, Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. Blumen Risse employs around 1,700 people and in 2013 achieved sales of around 130 million euros. This makes the company one of the largest in the German flower and plant retail sector .

history

It all began in Eduard Risse's nursery in Syburg . His son and heir Peter Risse decided not to grow plants himself and opened the first flower shop in 1968. Daughter Tina Risse-Stock has been involved in the company since 2002; after the death of her father in 2006 she took over the management . In 2011 Tina Risse-Stock was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Schwerter Ruhr Nachrichten . Further managing directors are Hans-Jörg Braß and Bernhard Christians. The company has the legal form of a GmbH & Co. KG , whose general partner is Blumen Risse GmbH, also based in Schwerte.

The focus is on cut flowers and floristry . The goods come from the flower auction in Aalsmeer / Netherlands. The plants and trees offered in the flower markets and garden centers are not grown themselves, but obtained from suppliers. A full range of accessories, garden furniture and the like is offered in the garden centers. In total, Blumen Risse carries around 10,000 different items. The 35,000 m² central warehouse is located at the headquarters in Schwerte-Westhofen. Blumen Risse has around 35 trucks of its own for transport to the sales locations.
