Boaventura or Boa Ventura is a municipality ( freguesia ) on the north coast of the Portuguese island of Madeira , in the district ( concelho ) of São Vicente . The community has an area of 25.3 km² and 1226 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
The poet Antero de Quental (1842–1891) lived and worked here for a time on the occasion of a visit from his aunt who lived here. He lived in the now listed mansion Solar da Silveira from the late 18th century.
