Robert "Bob" Allen (born January 16, 1939 in Belfast ) is a former Northern Irish football player .

Career

Allen came in 1957 from the Welsh club Denbigh Town to the Wolverhampton Wanderers , but denied there in two years no use in the first team. In July 1959 he moved to Coventry City in the Third Division . Allen made his league debut against Bradford City under Billy Frith in August 1960, but was only used sporadically thereafter. Only Jimmy Hill , who took over the coaching post in November 1961, increasingly relied on Allen, but put him flexibly in different positions. Despite 22 missions in the 1961/62 season , Allen was no longer committed to the end of the season and then ended his career.

As a member of the Coventry City Former Players Association , he has taken part in alumni reunions several times over the past few years. He returned to Coventry City for the first time in 2008 after more than 40 years.
