Bob Birdsong

Bob Birdsong (born 1948 in Tennessee ) is an American bodybuilder . He won a number of major titles in the 1970s.

Life

Bob Birdsong was born in Tennessee and raised in Kentucky . He was bullied at school because of his name and lanky figure . As a way out, he saw bodybuilding, which he began when he was 14. After high school he studied fine arts at the Art Center College of Design in Hollywood.

After several years of intense bodybuilding, he finally began to participate in competitions. After his first successes, he won Mr. Los Angeles of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1973 and became Mr. America (Medium) of the International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) for the first time in 1973 , a success that he was able to repeat in 1974 and also the overall category dominated. In 1975 he became Mr. Universe , his greatest success. He competed in various competitions until 1989.

Birdsong starred in the 1970s with Ken Sprague , then owner of Gold's Gym , in the gay porn films Loadstar and California Supermen (both 1972). He also modeled for the Colt Studio Group porn studio .

In 1975 Birdsong found faith and became a "born again Christian ". He moved to Albuquerque and has since given up steroids and drugs. Since then he has also appeared as an evangelist .
