Bob Chapek

Robert "Bob" Chapek (* 1960 ) is an American executive who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Walt Disney Company . Prior to becoming CEO on February 25, 2020, he was the chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products , a business unit responsible for the entertainment of Disney's theme parks.

career

Chapek made in 1977 graduated from Clark High School in Hammond ( Indiana ). He then earned his bachelor's degree in microbiology from Indiana University Bloomington and his master's of business administration from Michigan State University . He then worked in marketing for HJ Heinz Company and J. Walter Thompson before moving to the Walt Disney Company in 1993. He initially worked at Buena Vista Home Entertainment and became president of the unit. In July 2006, he was promoted to President of the Worldwide Home Video Division through November 2009, and then served as President of Sales at Walt Disney Studios for two years . Chapek was named President of Disney Consumer Products in September 2011 . On February 23, 2015, Chapek was named Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resort. In 2018 this business unit became Disney Parks, Experiences and Products as a result of an internal merger.

In February 2020, Chapek was named Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, replacing Bob Iger .

Chapek is married and has three children.
