Bob Custer (born October 18, 1898 in Frankfort , Kentucky , † December 27, 1974 in Torrance , California , actually Raymond Anthony Glenn ) was an American actor , mainly in B-Westerns .

Life

Custer attended the University of Kentucky , which he probably left without a degree as an engineer for the US Army . Custer made his first film appearances in two silent film westerns that were released in late 1924. He was signed by the Film Booking Office (FBO), which also gave him his stage name and produced numerous action films, mainly of the western genre . His weekly salary rose from $ 100 initially to $ 1,000 by the fifth year. In 1927 he also appeared under his maiden name in three films for the Chadwick Pictures Corporation . After about two dozen westerns for the FBO, Custer joined Syndicate Pictures . There he experienced the transition to sound films in his twenty or so films, often under director JP McGowan . After his contract expired in 1931, he moved to a company that produced extremely cheap works for four films, the Big 4 Film Corporation . It wasn't until 1934 that the next acting opportunity came when Custer starred in the Serial Law of the Wild . Only three films were to follow: In 1936/1937 he was under contract with Reliable Pictures .

Later, Custer probably worked as a building inspector and security engineer.

Custer was married twice; from 1926 to 1933 with the meat product heiress Anne Cudahy and from 1948 until his death with Mildred Boughers.
