Bob D. Hydrick

Robert "Bob" D. Hydrick is a former American politician ( Republican Party ).

Life

In April 1973, Hydrick was elected mayor of Columbus , Georgia in a by-election , replacing mayor pro tempore A. J. McClung . The by-election had become necessary because the previous mayor, JR Allen , was killed in a plane crash on February 15, 1973. Hydrick held the office from April 1973 to late 1974. In the mayoral elections in the fall of 1974 he was defeated by the Democrat Jack P. Mickle , who took office in 1975.

Hydrick subsequently became President of the Republican Third Congressional District in Georgia. In 2011 he became a member of the 25-person Charter Review Commission , whose task it is to review the city's charter and propose any changes.
