Bob Dyer (songwriter)
Robert L. "Bob" Dyer (born May 22, 1939 in Boonville , Missouri , † April 11, 2007 Boonville, Missouri) was an American singer-songwriter, writer and filmmaker.
Life
Dyer studied at the University of Missouri , where he taught English for several years. He wrote a story of his hometown Boonville and a book about Jesse James ( Jesse James and the Civil Warin Missouri ), wrote the book Duke Paul of Wurttemberg on the Missouri Frontier with Hans von Sachsen-Altenburg and made a film about the poet John Neihardt ( Performing the Vision ). He also published the collection of poems Oracle of the Turtle and an anthology about the great flood of the Missouri in 1993.
With Cathy Barton and Dave Para , Dyer recorded the CDs Johnny Whistletrigger and Rebel in the Woods with songs from the Missouri Civil War. He published his own songs in the Big Canoe Songbook and on the CD Songteller .
