from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bob Pridden (* 1946 in Ickenham , London ) is a British sound engineer . He has worked with the British rock band The Who and other rock musicians for over 40 years . Bob Pridden is married to Lady Maria Noel, daughter of the fifth Earl of Gainsborough . His son Benedict is godfathered by Who guitarist Pete Townshend .

Pridden has worked with the Who since the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival . Among other things, he was the sound engineer for the band's performances in Woodstock in 1969 and at Live Aid in 1985, where he also sat at the mixer for David Bowie and Paul McCartney . He has also worked on numerous Who albums and on solo projects by their members.

The development of the stage monitor in the late 1960s is associated with Pridden. For the first time, Pridden used so-called wedge monitors, which are placed on the stage directly in front of the respective musician. So the sound can be mixed individually for each one, which was not possible before.

In 2001 Pridden put together the album Substitute - The Songs of The Who . Here you can hear who covers by British and American bands.
