Bobi Zankow

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boris (Bobi) Zankow ( Bulgarian Борис Цанков ) (* 1979 , † January 4, 2010 in Sofia (murdered)) was a convicted Bulgarian criminal, journalist for the tabloid press and radio host.

Life

Several attacks were carried out on Zankow, including a bomb attack in 2005 in which he was injured. On January 4, 2010, two men shot Zankov on the lively boulevard Alexander Stamboliski (бул. “Стамболийски”) in Sofia with four shots from 9-millimeter pistols. Zankow was just on the way to his lawyer. His bodyguards were gunshot wounds.

Zankow had publicly boasted good contacts with the criminal underworld, including Anton Miltenow (Der Schnabel), Konstantin Dimitrov and Iwan Todorow (Doktora) and the Margin brothers. A book by Zankow about the Mutri and criminal groups was rated by the police chief of the city of Sofia, Valeri Jordanow, as a “childish mixture of reality and fantasies”, which sounds amusing, but difficult to prove and also unbelievable. Zankow is also said to have been convicted of fraud twelve times during his lifetime; in its broadcasts it is said to have been called with profit promises to send overpriced SMS messages.

In connection with his murder, Stefan Bonew and Krassimir Marinow , who are also considered members of the Mutri, were arrested. Like Georgi Stoew , who was also murdered in 2008 , Zankow was referred to as a chronicler of the Mafia. Zankow also wrote for a weekend tabloid and took part in television talk shows.
