Bockem is located between Much and Berghausen in the upper Wahnbach valley . It is incorrectly listed as Borkem on some maps .

In 1845 Hof und Mühle Bockum were named as a household with eight residents.

In 1901 the place was a homestead and had nine inhabitants: the mill owner Joh. Peter Sommerhäuser, the farmer Peter Sommerhäuser, the farmer widow Peter Sommerhäuser and the farmer Friedrich Wilhelm Tüschenbönner.
