The Stadtvilla Bockenheimer Landstrasse 22 is a listed building in the Bockenheimer Landstrasse on the corner of Unterlindau in Frankfurt am Main .

history

The north side of Bockenheimer Landstrasse had been built on with spacious villas in the early 1880s. The only exception was the area of the Frankfurt Zoo , which at that time was on the corner of Bockenheimer Landstrasse and Niedenau. After the zoo moved to its current location, the vacant lot was filled with three buildings designed by Dielmann (house number 28, demolished around 1960), F. Lönholdt (house number 26, demolished around 1960) and Eyssen. The only one of the three still preserved today was the building at Bockenheimer Landstrasse 22.

The villa was designed in the neo-renaissance style according to a design by Anton Eyssen with richly structured facades in 1886 for a wealthy merchant family. On the western side there are two parallel stairwells. The first stately one leads from the first to the third floor and is equipped with a spacious staircase made of Carrara marble . Behind it is the servants' staircase, a small, narrow staircase that extends from the basement to the attic. It is centered on Bockenheimer Landstrasse via a gabled axial risalit , which makes up the window front to the large salons on the three stately floors. In addition, the facade is rich in jewelry. At the corner to Unterlindau there is a corner bay window that merges into a roof turret to the roof structure .
