NGC 4693 is a 13.3 likes bright spiral galaxy of Hubble type Scd in the constellation kite on the northern sky. It is estimated to be 81 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on April 7, 1793 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “vF, E, 2 ′ long, 0.5 ′ broad”.
