NGC 4716 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 195 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxy forms the interacting galaxy trio KTS 46A with its neighbors NGC 4717 and PGC 43465 . Together with three other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4760 group ( LGG 312 ).
The galaxies NGC 4703 , NGC 4764 , NGC 4759 , IC 3826 are in the same area of the sky .
The Type Ia supernova SN 1981F was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Tempel on April 12, 1882 .
