NGC 4725 is a 9.3 likes bright barred spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SBab in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is estimated to be 54 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 170,000 ly

The supernovae SN 1940B (Type-IIP), SN 1969H (Type-I), SN 1987E and SN 1999gs ( Type-Ia ) were observed here.
The object was discovered on April 10, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
