NGC 4743 is a 12.4 mag bright, lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Centaur , about 126 million light-years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on June 8, 1834 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflecting telescope, who described it as "F, R, gbM".
