NGC 4682 is a 12.4 likes bright barred spiral galaxy of Hubble type SBc in the constellation Virgo. It is estimated to be 99 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4658 , NGC 4663 , NGC 4703 , NGC 4717 .
The Type Ia supernova SN 2011jh was observed here.
The object was discovered on March 15, 1786 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “vF, E sp-nf, 4 ′ long, 3 ′ broad”.
