NGC 4668 is a 12.9 likes bright barred spiral galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SBCD in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated 69 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 ly. Together with NGC 4632 and NGC 4666 , it forms the small galaxy group LGG 299.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4642 , NGC 4653 .

The object was discovered on April 11, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “vF, S, iF”.
