NGC 4655 is a 14.4 mag bright spiral galaxy with an active galaxy core in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is an estimated 325 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3675 , IC 3713 , IC 3723 , IC 3726 .
The object was discovered on April 9, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, which it labeled “pB. vS. stellar, just p. Sst. ”Described.
