NGC 4641 is a lenticular galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 88 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1955 .
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 4640 , IC 3672 , IC 3684 , IC 3710 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on April 17, 1887 .
