NGC 4625 = IC 3675 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBm / P in the constellation Giraffe in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 30 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 15,000 light-years across. Together with NGC 4618 , it forms the interacting galaxy pair Holm 438 or KPG 349 and is considered a member of the NGC 4258 group ( LGG 290 ).
In visible light, NGC 4625 has no spiral arms , these are only visible in ultraviolet images.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4655 , IC 3713 , IC 3723 , IC 3726 .
The object was discovered on April 9, 1787 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
The galaxies NGC 4625 and NGC 4618 imaged by GALEX in ultraviolet light.
