NGC 4620 is a 12.2 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 49 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter. It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1902 . In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4639 , NGC 4654 , IC 3631 , IC 3643 .

The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 29, 1830 .
