NGC 4626 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 125 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 ly in diameter.
The type 2 supernova SN 2012cr has been observed in this galaxy .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on March 20, 1789 .
