NGC 4611 = IC 805 is a 14.3 mag bright bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type SABc in the constellation of Berenike's hair in the northern sky . It is an estimated 272 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 50,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 1878 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4634 , NGC 4639 , IC 3613 , IC 3629 .

The object was officially discovered twice; on May 17, 1881 by Édouard Stephan (discovery listed as NGC 4611) and on April 20, 1889 by Lewis A. Swift (listed as IC 805).
