NGC 4593 is a bar-spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 109 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 4597 , NGC 4602 , NGC 4604 , IC 804 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on April 17, 1784 by William Herschel with his 18.7-inch reflecting telescope .
