NGC 4570 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 77 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 85,000 ly and is listed under catalog number VVC 1692 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
The galaxies NGC 4577 , NGC 4588 , IC 3576 , IC 3591 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 13, 1784 .
