NGC 4589 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E2 in the constellation Draco in the northern sky. It is estimated to be 95 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light-years across. Together with NGC 4572 , it forms an (optical) galaxy pair.
The Type Ib Supernova SN 2005cz was observed here.
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on November 22, 1797 .
