The Ketzür post mill is a restored and fully functional post mill in the Ketzür district in the Beetzseeheide municipality in Brandenburg . It is a listed building.
history
The windmill at Ketzür was in 1859 still today Potsdam belonging location Bornim . It is assumed that this was not the original location either, but that the mill had already been moved to Bornim. On April 2, 1861, the Ketzür master carpenter Friedrich Henkel applied to the Prussian state government for the "erection of a post windmill on his field tarpaulin". Approval was granted on July 3, 1861. The mill was described as a post mill with two grinding courses. Friedrich Henkel then had the mill in Bornim dismantled and brought to Ketzür, where it was rebuilt. He then leased it on April 9, 1862 for two years at a rent of 50 thalers to a mill master Wilhelm Rothbart.
After the lease expired in 1864, the mill and a newly built bakery were operated by the son Friedrich Henkels, a master miller Joachim Friedrich Karl Henkel. Joachim Henkel died in 1886 at the age of 42. Since the eldest son Max Henkel was only six years old at the time, his wife Joachim Henkels continued to run the mill. After three years as a journeyman, Max Henkel took over the mill and bakery in 1898 and ran them until 1955. Then the mill was stopped.
In the decades that followed, the wooden mill fell into disrepair. The shingle roof was not renewed and the outer walls were replaced until 1988 and 1989 respectively. Parts of the basic structure were also renewed. The mill wings were subsequently restored. In September 2001 the municipality of Ketzür bought the mill for a symbolic price of one mark . Two months later, an association was founded with the aim of preserving the post mill and wanting to preserve, restore and make it accessible to the public again. The last restoration took place in 2010.
