history

The club was founded in 1926 as a professional football club under the name Bocskay Labdarúgó Szövetkezet ( German  football community Bocskay ; short Bocskay LSz ) and was named after Stephan Bocskai . Most of the players were recruited from local rivals Debreceni Vasutas SC . When the Hungarian professional league was founded, he was classified in the second division. There he finished the 1926/27 season in second place behind Attila FC Miskolc and was able to prevail in the subsequent relegation games against BAK FC Budapest , third in the second division. In October 1927 the club name was changed to Bocskay Football Club . In the first division , the 1927/28 season ended in penultimate place. As a result, Bocskay had to play relegation games against the runner-up in the second division, Turul FC Budapest , and secured relegation. The following seasons the club always finished in the front midfield, but could not break into the phalanx of the Budapest clubs and intervene in the fight for the championship title. The club celebrated the greatest success in its club history in 1930 when it beat Bástya FC Szeged 5-1 in the final of the Hungarian Cup . The following season Bocskay finished again in fourth place and qualified for the Mitropapokal 1931 , where he was eliminated in the first round after two defeats against the eventual winner First Vienna FC . With third place at the end of the 1933/34 season , the club achieved the best placement and again qualified for the Mitropapokal . There, too, Bocskay overtook the end in the first round after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg and a 2-1 win in the second leg against eventual titleholders AGC Bologna .

In the following years Bocskay got into financial difficulties, so that many players left the club, and could no longer connect to these successes. The 1934/35 season he finished in ninth place and secured relegation late. After two sixth places in the following seasons, Bocskay also fought in the 1937/38 season for relegation, which was secured with eleventh place. At the end of the 1938/39 season the club was already relegated, but benefited from the withdrawal of Phőbus FC Budapest . The 1939/40 season was the last in the club's history. After the league was secured in terms of sport, the club disbanded as no new donors could be found.
