Mitropa Cup 1934
The Mitropapokal 1934 was the 8th edition of the international cup competition. The best teams from Austria , Hungary , Czechoslovakia and Italy took part. It was mostly the champions, runners-up and cup winners of the respective countries. The participants played in a pure cup mode with two legs in the most important continental football competition in the period before the Second World War. In the event of a tie after two games, a playoff was played. All 16 clubs started in the round of 16, whereby the encounters between Sparta Prague and Hungaria FC Budapest had to be repeated. The defending champion FK Austria Wien was already defeated by the Hungarian representative Újpest Budapest.
The final took place in just 4 days on September 5th and 9th, 1934 in Vienna and Bologna. Both finals were led by English referees, as the Italians rejected Hungarian and Czech referees as biased. In the second leg, which took place in the presence of Bologna's mayor and Mussolini's sons Bruno and Vittorio , the Viennese lost a player in the 10th minute due to injury and after the break, another Viennese could only play as an "extra" due to an injury. As a result of this weakening, AGC Bologna achieved an unexpectedly high victory and became the first team to win the Mitropa Cup for the second time after 1932. This time Carlo Reguzzoni of the winning team was the top scorer of the competition with ten goals.

1 All three encounters were canceled by the Mitropa Cup Committee, as the Hungarians protested against Ferdinand Facsinek's commitment, as he had only recently moved from FC Zurich to Prague, but Sparta had not yet paid the transfer fee in full. Facsinek was not yet a full member of Sparta and therefore not eligible to play. After the remaining amount had been paid, the games were played again.
2 Even after extra time, the sixth game between the two teams did not bring a decision. So both clubs agreed on a drawing of lots, in which Sparta had luck on its side, but according to the Mitropacup regulations should have been disqualified after the third game.
